Development of Design Guides, Lectures, Courses, and Presentations in Both English and Spanish on Earthquake Engineering

  • Principal authors for 1994 and 2011 revisions to "FEMA 74, Reducing the Risks of Nonstructural Earthquake Damage - A Practical Guide" now avialalbe online or as pdf download from FEMA website. The ACT-69 Project received the 2012 Award of Excellance in the Study/Research/Guidelines category from the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California
  • ATC-20 Post-Earthquake Damage Assessment Training; Fierro and Perry have presented case studies for this biannual training from 1999-present
  • Develop short and long lectures, courses and presentations to educate students and/or professionals on earthquake engineering and earthquake hazard mitigation. E. Fierro has developed these materials in both English and Spanish and presented them in the US and other countries
  • E. Fierro helped develop the first Master of Science program in structural engineering in the Dominican Republic and taught several of the courses; the first class graduated from this program in January 2013

FEMA E-74 is available online as a reference or as a download in pdf format.
